Lack of proper oral hygiene is one of the primary causes of this disease.
A cavity usually starts out very small, but left untreated, can grow rapidly. Cavities are caused
by sugar-loving plaque bacteria. Carbohydrates that are not properly removed from tooth
surfaces provide food to the plaque bacteria.
The bacteria in plaque secrete an acidic by-product after digesting sugars in starchy foods.
These acids cause the breakdown of the tooth.
The decay is carefully removed, leaving only clean, healthy tooth structure. (This part of the
video is showing the decay being removed)
The prepared tooth is now ready to be restored. (This part of the video is showing the filling
material placed in the cavity prep, packed, and light cured)
Today’s bonded white fillings offer a strong and aesthetically pleasing option to repair and
strengthen teeth.
